Ms. Bijapurkar is a recognized thought leader on market strategy and India’s consumer economy. She has an independent management consulting practice and describes her mission as bringing market focus and customer centricity to business strategy.
She is one of India’s most experienced independent directors and has served on the boards of several of India’s blue chip companies and governing councils of social and academic institutions.

She is also co founder of People Research on India’s Consumer Economy, a not-for-profit think tank and fact tank, dedicated to providing ‘people-level’ data and insights for business strategy and public policy. (www.ice360.in); and is a regular visiting faculty at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), her alma mater.  

Ms. Bijapurkar is a dominant voice in the Indian media on business and policy issues. She is the author of “We are like that only: Understanding the Logic of Consumer India”, “A Never-Before World: Tracking the Evolution of Consumer India” and “Customer in the Boardroom – crafting customer based business strategy” (Sage)

Ms Bijapurkar holds a Bsc (Hons) degree in Physics from Delhi University and a post graduate diploma in management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (1975-1977). Prior to setting up her own consulting practice, she worked in market research and strategy consulting with MARG, Mode Services, McKinsey & Company and also worked as a full time consultant with Hindustan Lever.
